The origins of this unusual looking building aren't entirely clear. It dates to the 18th century, but the large ground floor shop windows are a later addition, and the modern plastic upper storey windows are later still, replacing casements with glazing bars. It was Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101374515-premises-at-the-western-corner-of-birmingham-road-and-gloves-close-meriden#.XZ7WN0ZKhPY & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1374515 in 1976.
