A No.26 bus passes a hotel which used to be part of Queen Margaret College, now Queen Margaret University which moved to Musselburgh around 2006. Before the land west of Corstorphine Hill had houses built upon it in the post war years, there was a farm here, Clermiston Mains. The weather was dark, but dry. A depression of tropical origin had passed, it developed out of the unusual Hurricane Lorenzo which a couple of days earlier destroyed the harbour at Lajes on the island of Flores and before that it got to Category 5 further east than any other storm. Now it was a dull day.
