The Officers' Mess occupies forms part of the business quarter of the redeveloped Caterham Barracks site. It was set up by the Caterham Barracks Community Trust (CBCT) to support small businesses in the area, providing serviced offices, training and meeting rooms. The CBCT was set up by the developer of the Caterham barracks Site and the local authority (Tandridge District Council) to provide facilities for the community of Caterham. (https://www.caterhambarracks.org.uk/ ). The Officers’ Mess originally provided offices, workspace and recreation for the officers stationed at the Guards Depot, Caterham. It was designed as part of the original plan for the barracks in 1875 with wings added in 1896 and 1928. It included a dining room, a pool room and various offices.
