Described on its website as "a community based centre that provides a variety of activities for people to come and enjoy". Behind the modern glass lobby there is a date on the wall that was difficult to read from the road - 1926 perhaps? Certainly it appears on the 1933 OS map, as one of the buildings in the grounds of Highfield House, then described as an "institution for the blind".
