After The Marquess of Bute's donation to the city of land for Roath Park other landowners followed suit. Lord Tredegar provided Waterloo Gardens and Roath Mill Gardens, narrow strips of landscaped parkland along the Lleici brook, lined by rows of Edwardian houses.
