Judging by the skyline plaques at the old grandstand there must have been a view westwards from there, but it is now completely blocked by trees. A helpful local directed us to this spot, where there is a comparatively restricted view across a valley to the hills beyond. This image was taken from a locked gate - you can't get to the gate in the picture.
