1 Liverpool Road, now housing a branch of Halifax Bank, was the former Pied Bull pub, which closed in the early 1990s. The present building was built in the early 1930s, designed by Sidney C Clark. 3 - 7 Liverpool Road, housing Marks and Spencer, was built in 1930, designed by Percy H. Clarke & Son, on the site of their original shop in the area, dating from 1914.
