In September 2018 only the word ALES is in view on the wall. An October 2009 Google Street View shows TRY DELAFIELD'S NOTED ALES & STOUT The History Points website records that The King’s Arms at 29 Nevill Street, Abergavenny has a history of brewing its own beer. In the 19th century Thomas Delafield brewed ales and stout there. In 1881 he was fined £2 and ordered to pay legal costs for selling alcohol on a Sunday at a camp of the 2nd Monmouthshire Rifle Volunteers at Llanddewi Skirrid. The King’s Arms Brewery was still in business after the First World War.
