Birmingham has three cathedrals. This one is the Greek Orthodox cathedral of the Archdiocese of Thyateira, dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos and St Andrew. Sited in Arthur Place, it was originally built by Julius Alfred Chatwin in 1873 as a Catholic Apostolic church, and became a cathedral in 1980.
