See Image This is a replica of Kelly’s coal office and yard from Carrickfergus. On the left is the yard where the coal was stored and loaded for delivery by horse and cart. The office on the right oversaw despatch of deliveries and operated the weighbridge (below the cart) without having to leave the relative comfort of the office during inclement weather. Domestic orders might also have been taken across the counter in the days before telephone ordering “Hee-lo John Kelly Limited. Kylie spee-king. How may I help yewww”.
