- Airfield Battle Headquarters: EDoB ID: e01173 The observation cupola (most standard BHQs had them) was the sole means of obtaining a somewhat restricted 360 degree view of the outside world, afforded through a narrow slit on all four sides. Forward of the cupola and integral with it was the escape hatch, seen here with its iron access ladder still in place. Unlike the horizontal hatch covers found on most other BHQs, this has a vertical steel door covering the exit. Image
