The carved stone post by the B5093 is almost hidden in the hedge outside the fire station Image It was erected by the Wilmslow Turnpike Trust in the 19th century. The inscription on the left reads: 8¼ Miles to Wilmslow The inscription on the right reads: 4 Miles to Manchester to Centre of St. Anns Square [the last line is actually now buried in the tarmac].
