The notice attached to the wall of a towpath bridge tells us that the European Regional Development Fund, together with Nottinghamshire County Council, the Canal and River Trust, and Veolia Environmental Trust had funded the construction of a multi-user path suitable for cyclists from Sandy Lane to Bridge Place. The project was completed in 2013.
