I have long found it irritating to hear or read that about skiing 'at Aviemore', because there are no ski slopes at Aviemore. Unless there is a lot of snow in the strath, and you are doing cross-country skiing, you have to drive 10 miles from Aviemore to ski on Cairngorm. This sign, beside the road in Inverdruie as you approach Aviemore from the ski area, is the definite proof, even seeming to exclude cross-country skiing in the vicinity of the village.
