Carved stone post by the A192, in parish of Morpeth (Castle Morpeth District), Shields Road, just West of railway bridge, near Mafeking Park, built into wall at back of footpath, on East side of road. Erected by the Shields & Morpeth & Branches turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- S 16 Northumberland HER.
