Metal plate attached to stone post by the A162, in parish of Burton Salmon (Selby District), just South of Burton Salmon, nearly opposite New Lane, on the verge, on West side of road. Brayshaw & Booth iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : YORK / 19¾ MILES / TADCASTER / 10¼ MILES : : TADCASTER & DONCASTER / ROAD / BURTON SALMON : : DONCASTER / 17 MILES / PONTEFRACT / 4¾ MILES / FERRYBRIDGE / 2 MILES : Maker:- : BRAYSHAW & BOOTH / MAKERS / LIVERSEDGE : Grade II listed.
