Metal plate attached to stone post by the A162, in parish of TADCASTER (SELBY District), just South of junction with the A659 in Tadcaster; opposite John Smith's Brewery, near car park and road sign, on West side of road. Brayshaw & Booth iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : YORK / 9¾ MILES / TADCASTER / ¼ MILES : : TADCASTER & DONCASTER / ROAD / TADCASTER WEST : : DONCASTER / 27 MILES / PONTEFRACT / 14¾ MILES / FERRYBRIDGE / 12 MILES : Maker:- : BRAYSHAW & BOOTH / MAKERS / LIVERSEDGE : Grade II listed.
