The plaque reads: CAPTAIN ALEXANDER RODGER 1802-1877 WAS BORN IN THIS HOUSE FISHERMAN WHO BECAME MASTER OF THE CHINA TEA CLIPPER 'KATE CARNIE' AND OWNER OF THE CLIPPER SHIPS 'LAHLOO','MIN' AND 'TAEPING' AMONG OTHERS.
