Carved stone post by the A49, in parish of WINWICK (WARRINGTON District), Newton Road, 35m South of junction with Green Lane, 2m behind crash barrier, on West side of road. Wigan triangle, erected by the Warrington & Wigan turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : TO / WIGAN / 9 / MILES : : TO / WARRINGTON / 3 / MILES : Carved benchmark on reverse.
