Grave and memorial of Marie Corelli in Stratford-upon-Avon Cemetery. Before World War I Marie Corelli was a very successful writer, selling more novels than including Arthur Conan Doyle, H. G. Wells, and Rudyard Kipling combined. She lived in Stratford from 1901 until her death in 1924. She campaigned for the preservation of historic buildings in Stratford. She was outspoken and even controversial in death with the gesture of the figure on the memorial.
