Carved stone post by the A343, in parish of SMANNELL (TEST VALLEY District), South of Enham Alamein, on wide grass verge in front of tarmac path and hedge, on West side of road. Newbury waist, erected by the Andover & Chilton Pond turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- : NEWBURY / 14 : : SARUM / 9 / OXFORD / 40 : : ANDOVER / 2 : Carved benchmark on bottom left. Milestone Society National ID: HA_NEAN14.
