Built as a Carnegie Free Library in 1904. Carnegie libraries are libraries which were built with money donated by Scottish-American businessman Andrew Carnegie. 1,689 were built in the United States, 660 in Britain and Ireland. There is also a plaque over the door to honour Harold Tudor, who was the inspiration behind the Llangollen International Eisteddfod.
