Metal plate attached to stone post by the B2177, in parish of SHEDFIELD (WINCHESTER District), Waltham Close, just before first buildings on right when approaching from the South, on East side of road. Gosport plate, erected by the Gosport, Bishops Waltham, Wickham & Chawton turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- BPS Waltham 2 MILES GOSPORT 11 MILES Winchester HER & Winchester UAD.
