Carved stone post by the B3174 road (was A30), in parish of WHIMPLE (EAST DEVON District), "Milestone Garage" in Hand & Pen, 100m West of Church Road, on path outside National Garage, on North side of road. Exeter granite facets erected by the Exeter turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : 8 / Miles to / Honiton / 8 / Miles to / Exeter : : 168 / Miles / To / LONDON : : 8 / Miles to / Exeter / 8 / Miles to / Honiton : Devon & Dartmoor HER.
