Not that the exterior gives very much away, but the core of the building is a mid 18th century country house, and it remains in a remarkable state of preservation of its day. The 1987 Grade II* listing details at https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/300018288-crugiau-llanfarian#.XGUXjzP7RPY mention interior features such as reeded pillars, plastered beams, archways, recesses for sideboards, dado rails and panelling, along with a rather fine dividing staircase. It is thought to have been built for a member of the family who was agent for the nearby Nanteos mansion house (now an hotel) and who later owned the nearby Image
