This picture may stir some memories as it was taken in the early 1980's from the former site of Loco Terrace at Hasland. Hasland locomotive depot roundhouse was also once in this area, it was officially closed on the 7th September 1964 and the remaining structure was finally demolished a few years later. The Carbonisation Plant until its closure, was a visible landmark (particularly at night when its glow could be seen for miles around - it was also a source of heavy pollution).
