Metal plate attached to concrete post by the B5158, in parish of URMSTON (TRAFFORD District), Bowfell Road; opposite Leisure Centre, next to junction with Jackson Court, on the verge, on North side of road. Erected by the County Council in the 20th century. Inscription reads:- : URMSTON / MILES TO / MANCHESTER 9½ / BARTON BRIDGE 2¼ : : URMSTON / MILES TO / LYMM 8 / CHESTER 32 : : (Rear plaque) URMSTON URBAN / DISTRICT COUNCIL / {line} / THIS ROAD WAS / FORMALLY OPENED BY / ALD. P MACDONALD J.P. / VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE / LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL / ON OCTOBER 22ND 1937. : Milestone Society National ID: LA_XURM
