Metal plate attached to stone post by the A6, in parish of WARTON (LANCASTER District), Milnthorpe Road, South of junction with Borwick Lane (from Warton), on grass verge by metal fence, on West side of road. Lancaster twin iron plate, erected by the Garstang & Heronsyke turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : BURTON / II½ / MILES : : WARTON : : LANCASTER / VIII / MILES : Grade II listed.
