Carved stone post by the A129, in parish of BRENTWOOD (BRENTWOOD District), by Shenfield parish hall - 10m East of mini-roundabout, by the road, on North side of road. Erected by the Rochford Hundred (Division of Essex First District) turnpike trust in the 19th century. Defaced inscription once read:- (London) (19) Large carved benchmark on West face. Essex HER.
