Metal plate attached to stone post by the UC road, in parish of SCARNING (BRECKLAND District), East end of lay-by, 100yds East of Spring Cottage, on grass verge, on North side of road. Dereham iron plate, erected by the Norwich & Swaffham turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- DEREHAM 3 SWAFFHAM 9 Norfolk HER.
