Metal plate attached to stone post by the A342, in parish of ROWDE (KENNET District), Devizes Road, 100m Northwest of Oxhouse Farmhouse, Dunkirk Hill, currently fallen, in deep ditch, on West side of road. Burt iron casting, erected by the Devizes (consolidated) turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : CHIPPENm / 9 : : DEVIZES / 1 : : CALNE / 7 : Maker:- : BURT DEVIZES. : Grade II listed.
