Metal plate attached to stone post by the UC road (was A628), in parish of HEMSWORTH (WAKEFIELD District), Station Road, North end of Hemsworth, near Lowfield Road, set in brick wall, opposite Town End Cottage, on East side of road. Barn/Pont Grove iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th/20th century. Inscription reads:- : BARN.Y / 8 / MILES : : BARNSLEY & PONTEFRACT ROAD / HEMSWORTH : : PON.T / 6 / MILES : Grade II listed.
