Metal plates attached to stone post by the A6, in parish of SLYNE WITH HEST (LANCASTER District), Main Road, by Rose Cottage, opposite junction with Bottomdale Road, 25m North of Manor House, in wide pavement to right of wall of cottage garden, on West side of road. Lancaster twin iron plate, erected by the Garstang & Heronsyke turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : BURTON / VII½ / MILES : : SLYNE WITH HEST : : LANCASTER / III / MILES : Carved benchmark and rivet on top front. Grade II listed.
