Metal plate attached to stone post by the B6229, in parish of WHITTLE LE WOODS (CHORLEY District), Great Knowley, junction with Gorse Close, on West side of road. Chorley plate, erected by the Chorley to Blackburn turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : TO / CHORLEY / 2 MILES / TO / BLACKBURN / 7¾ MILES / WHITTLE-LE-WOODS : Milestone Society National ID: LA_CYBB02.
