There is no grand gateway at Hovingham Hall, neither is there a view of a great classical mansion. The entrance is unusual in that it is both modest in size and of rough cast stone, rather than ashlar. The tunnel vaulted entrance leads directly into the riding school, another unusual feature of the Hall.
