A plaque mounted by the Chesterfield Civic Society informs that this is North Midland House, designed by Francis Thompson and built in 1840, and is the sole surviving building from Chesterfield's first railway station. The building is located near the junction of Crow Lane and Malkin Street and is currently used by Spire Insurance Services.
