The arms (Sable three escallops or) on the building don't seem to quite match the blazon of the Strickland family in Burke's General Armory (Sable three escallops argent a border engrailed of the last) but the food and real ale are excellent and it's the perfect place to stop for lunch before a visit to the adjacent Sizergh Castle.
