A rare vertical and modernist intrusion into the townscape, but an effective one. Pevsner observes that this defiantly modern building nods to its surroundings by means of the jettied upper storey and black fins evoking studwork. Built in 1961-65 to the design of David du R. Aberdeen & Partners.
