This is the Grand Union Canal in Loughborough, looking north at Swingbridge Road Bridge, No 41. The swing bridge has been replaced by this permanent brick structure. On August Bank Holiday with the sun shining, there was plenty of traffic on the canal, and gongoozlers were active too. The Loughborough Navigation (including the River Soar) was bought by the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company in 1932.
