This was a group of 37 houses and a chapel built by the owners of Rhiwbach Quarry for some of its workforce. The men of Tre-gynwal walked to work through Rhiw Fachno Quarry, the bottom of which can be seen on the right. Those who worked underground at Cwm End would then enter the lower adit of Rhiwbach, whilst the surface workers would continue along the path to Rhiwbach.
