This paddock was under threat of being developed for housing, but fortunately for some, it will remain a paddock for a while still. As to the hot air balloon filled with revellers which had taken off from the Rowbarge pub in Station Road, on a windless evening, it only managed to get as far as the paddock in the north western corner of the square (about half a kilometre). The balloon eventually came to rest behind the trees, in the next square.
