The plaque https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5965677 on the wall shows CLOSE TO THIS SITE STOOD THE ROMAN FORTRESS BATHS. Part of present-day Caerleon was the location of the ancient Roman legionary fortress of Isca Silurum (or Isca Augusta).
