Between the trees can be seen a pool of water which stands on the bed of the former Firbeck Colliery branch railway. This was built as a joint enterprise between the LNER and LMSR in 1926. It closed in 1968 with the closure of the colliery, its only source of traffic. Photograph taken from the extreme east end of Langold Cemetery.
