The drinking fountain at the bottom of George Lane dates from 1881. It was recommissioned after a restoration project under the initiative of Ian Simpson and the Woodley Community Council on 23rd April 1988. A small plaque has also been placed on the fountain as a tribute Ian Simpson in appreciation of his hard work for this village, 8th June 1961 - 4th June 2000.
