The pub claims to be the oldest in England (though there are other claimants to that title), with parts of the building dating back to the 10th century. It was on a main route between Kirkstall Abbey and York. Known as the Priest's Inn until at least the time of the Reformation, it was renamed in 1780 after Lord Bingley. Listed grade 2 (list entry 1313185).
