Rocky's Park is dedicated to the memory of Ronald Roy Hooper. Known locally as Rocky, he died in December 2008 at the age of 76 after 30 years working in his mobile shop in nearby Livale Road. He helped hundreds of young people in the Bettws area, organising discos and sports tournaments, helping youngsters with homework and job applications, and arranging pantomimes for the New Venture Players.
