The coastal access rights in respect of the section of the England Coast Path between North Gare (Seaton Carew) and South Bents (Whitburn) came into force on the 11th April 2014 and, since 26th July 2018, now links with the section between South Bents and Amble in Northumberland. The signage shown at https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5931871 lies close to the beginning of that particular section.
