Opened in 1903 by the Great Eastern Railway on the line from Woodford to Ilford, the station building was destroyed by V1 rocket during the Second World War. It was rebuilt and became part of London Transport in 1947 when the line was diverted from Ilford to loop round to Leytonstone and thence towards London. Forecourt, view east.
