Overnight rain delayed the start of the Surrey-Nottinghamshire match until 12.15. Thereafter Surrey, the leaders, emphasised their position as champions-elect. The majority of what turned out to be quite a large crowd were in the Pavilion, but some hardy enthusiasts waited patiently here at the Vauxhall End. Surrey 375, Notts 101 and 149. Surrey won by an innings and 125 runs.
