Nuttall Railway Tunnel Ramsbottom

This is the 115 yard long curved Nuttall Tunnel. The tunnel is noted for its corbel-decorated north end portal seen here in the picture. Built in 1846 the line closed down in 1972 but reopened again on the 25th July 1987.
